Message from the President
Welcome to UT Health Northeast! It’s my pleasure to greet you with our new name. While we’re still legally known as The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler or UTHSCT, we have grown, advanced, and modernized, so we thought our name should too. UT Health Northeast more closely reflects the great region of Texas where we live and serve. This simplified name also creates a memorable impression of who we are. One thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to offering exceptional patient care. Our patients have always come first and they always will.
UT Health is the only university medical center in Northeast Texas, and we are proud of the role we play in working to improve the health of our citizens. First-rate patient care, the training of physicians and other healthcare professionals, and the scientists working in our Center for Biomedical Research to discover new cures for some of today’s most challenging diseases are the hallmarks of our mission.
Our strengths are found in the decades we have spent treating lung and heart diseases and cancer, as well as the family and internal medicine care we provide. We have a host of medical specialties here with expert, experienced, and compassionate physicians and staff.
If you haven’t had an occasion to visit UT Health, you are always welcome — because, as you may have heard, healing just feels better here.
Kirk A. Calhoun, MD
