Texas Area Health Education Center (AHEC) East
Texas Area Health Education Center (AHEC) East is a grant funded, non-profit organization committed to improving the supply and distribution of health care professionals and helping to strengthen and develop community health systems and networks. Northeast AHEC works within all stages of the health professional career by:
- Presenting health career information to young people and adults.
- Matching students with health professions mentors in community-based clinical education experiences.
- Assisting in providing continuing education programs required by health professionals to maintain their certifications.
- Focusing on building community health systems through collaborative programs linking local leadership with educational institutions and clinical resources.
Northeast AHEC services 25 counties: Bowie, Camp, Cass, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Hopkins, Hunt, Kaufman, Lamar, Marion, Morris, Panola, Rains, Red River, Rockwall, Rusk, Smith, Titus, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood. Learn more about AHEC.
Texas Institute of Occupational Safety and Health® (TIOSH®)
The Texas Institute of Occupational Safety and Health® (TIOSH®) is the occupational and environmental medicine program of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. TIOSH® was created to offer a total program concept to assist companies and their employees in meeting the goal of a safer and healthier workplace and by design maintains the Health Center’s three pronged mission to provide patient care and to conduct education and research. Southwest Center for Agricultural Health, Injury Prevention, and Education
The Southwest Ag Center was established at UT Health to conduct programs of research, prevention, intervention, education, and outreach designed to reduce occupational injuries and diseases among agricultural workers and their families. Public Health Lab of East Texas (PHLET)
Public Health Lab of East Texas (PHLET) is the Laboratory Response Network (LRN) provider for East Texas (Public Health Regions 4 and 5). PHLET also provides influenza surveillance by real-time PCR and QuantiFERON TB Gold testing. Learn more about PHLET.
Northeast Texas Consortium (NETnet)
The Northeast Texas Consortium is the collaborative effort of 14 higher education institutions to bring a wide range of instruction to 50 rural Northeast Texas counties containing 46% of the rural Texas population.
