- Mechanisms of drug resistance of NTM
Research over the past 35 years has focused on drug susceptibility, mechanism of drug resistance, treatment, and molecular epidemiology of patient and environment of nontuberculous mycobacteria. This body of work includes descriptions of the mechanisms of innate (erm gene) and mutational resistance in NTM to macrolides and amikacin, the description of more than 10 new species of rapidly growing mycobacteria, and development of current methods of susceptibility testing for NTM includes M. avium complex.
